Xnet Communication GmbH has released Captain FTP 1.3, the company's Mac OS X only FTP client. The update gets some graphical user interface changes, according to MacTech magazine (It also adds the ability to set permissions for local and remote files and folders; default upload permissions; a user defined file browser look (one or two windows, left, right, reverse); the ability to edit local and remote files with BBEdit; the ability to import an address book from Fetch or Transmit; a copy file path to the clipboard; command execution after reconnection; and optional keep-alive connection; support for Unicode FTP servers and national file names; and more. Private users still can use Captain FTP free of charge. Existing customers of Captain FTP 1.2 will have to get a new key for Captain FTP 1.3 if it was a non-commercial version. All users who purchased Captain FTP 1.2 for commercial use will be able to upgrade their software without any further registration or additional costs. Registration is US$25.
